Hunter...Hunting

So, we took Hunter to Field of Dreams to be trained with live birds. This is his second training. Hunter started out a little rough. He got on a pigeon and flushed it himself without holding point. So every time he got on a scent he would flush the bird and chase...Bad dog!! It was raining so the trainer was hesitant to get a chukar because they can't fly well in the rain. She finally decided to give Hunter a try even though he hadn't held a point on any of the pigeons. As soon as he smelled the chukar he froze and pointed. Jesse came up and flushed the bird and shot, but missed. Hunter got one more try. We were about fifty yards away and Hunter was on a chukar. He pointed and I thought there is no way he is going to hold long enough for Jesse to get there and flush, but he did. Jesse flushed the bird and shot and Hunter ran after it. Retrieving is another story...something to work on. He wouldn't even put it in his mouth. More to come... Below is Hunter's point. Incredible that it is just instict.
